Large red hessonite with green clinochlore Crystals on...

From our selection of collectible minerals, we propose a splendid group of Hessonite crystals with Clinoclore from Passo del Faiallo, in Liguria. Furthermore, it is characterized by large red–orange Hessonite crystals, in vivid contrast with the green lamellae of Clinoclore that cover part of the matrix, which increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Hessonite is a variety of grossular garnet whose red-brown color is due to the presence of iron and manganese in the crystal structure; the name derives from the Greek 'hesson', meaning inferior, in reference to its slightly lower density compared to other garnets. Passo del Faiallo, inland from Savona, is a classic locality historically known for producing beautiful examples of this mineral, associated with metamorphic rocks rich in chlorites like Clinoclore, a phyllosilicate of magnesium and aluminum responsible for the green tones present on the matrix. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always noted in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
