Toutes les enchères / Autres / Large collection of about 2,000 Belgian prayer cards /...
Beautiful, extensive collection of about 2,000 authentic memorial cards (death notices), mostly originating from Belgium. This historically interesting collection covers a very broad period, spanning from the early 1800s (19th century) to the recent past, with a focus on the period 1900–1990. Due to the enormous size of this collection, the lot has not been counted or photographed item by item; the stated number is a very realistic and careful estimate based on volume. Key features of this collection: Origin: Almost entirely Belgian A valuable source for genealogical research and local history. Variation: Contains a wide diversity of designs, including sober early prints, classic folding cards, and cards with portrait photos. Special pieces: Among the collection are several sought-after cards with portrait photos, including cards of soldiers and police officers in uniform, as well as very early 19th-century specimens with characteristic religious engravings and typography. Condition: The cards shown in the photos form a representative sample of the overall quality. Given their age, the cards are predominantly in good, collectible condition with normal signs of aging (such as slight discoloration or mild edge wear). The boxes and plastic sorting bins shown in the photos are included with the lot, so the collection can be stored neatly and clearly right away. A unique opportunity for the serious collector or dealer to acquire in one go a gigantic database of Belgian history.
