You are bidding on a very fine old 4/4 viola, labeled Giuseppe Lucci da Bagnacavallo fece in Roma 1960. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks. The viola has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly flamed maple with matched scroll. The sides of softly flamed maple. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The whole length of the violin is 650 mm and the back 392 mm. Width of the upper bout: 191 mm; middle: 128 mm; lower: 234 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
