Aluminium and wood sculpture « One dollar minimalist Black One Brown » – on a black American crate Artist: Karl Lagasse Magnificent sculpture representing the famous American banknote in its wooden case, made in aluminum by the artist. Each work is unique in that it is folded and shaped by hand. Karl Lagasse. This unique work blends modernity and prestige. • Details: Signed artwork and numbered on the back. • Edition: Limited series, unique piece by virtue of its folding and stamping, handmade by the artist • Authenticity: Delivered with the artist’s official certificate of authenticity. • Shipping: The artwork will be sent with a random number, depending on stock availability. Delivery information: You will receive our shipments, both domestic and international, exclusively via DHL Express, our logistics partner. The works are shipped from the artist based in the United States to our logistics platform in France, which handles import and customs clearance, before returning them individually to our collectors without any constraints. The transportation cost includes all fees from the United States to your home. IMPORTANT: NEVER accept a damaged package without opening and inspecting it. If the work is damaged, you must refuse delivery and note the reason for the refusal on the delivery note, indicating issues such as “broken,” “scratched,” “damaged,” or “folded.” If only the packaging is deteriorated but the contents are intact, you may accept the package. However, if both the packaging and the contents are damaged, you must refuse the package without hesitation. Karl Lagasse, a renowned artist, gained prominence in 2009 with his One Dollar sculptures, ranking that year among the ten best sculptors under 30 according to Artprice. In 2012, the New York publication Farameh named him as one of the fifty best contemporary artists, inspired by traditional American icons, in its book FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art. More recently, in 2016, at the Art Paris Art Fair, the President of the French Republic warmly congratulated Karl for his impressive two-meter bronze sculpture One Dollar, exhibited at the Grand Palais. Karl’s artistic journey began at age 7 with collages, prompted by his meeting with sculptor César Baldaccini. He then turned to tagging and graffiti in the Paris metro while remaining passionate about collages. The artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to merge his tags with his collages. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, which led to his first solo show in 2006 at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels. In 2008, he returned to Paris with an exhibition combining paintings, sculptures, and video elements at the Espace Pierre Cardin. Karl particularly enjoys unveiling his works at international exhibitions. In 2011, he was represented by Bel Air Fine Art at the Art Monaco fair with his Cryptogram One. The following year, he presented his One Dollar works on the theme “In God We Trust” at the Artco France gallery. His solo exhibition in 2016 at the Atrium gallery in Marbella, Spain, was inaugurated by the mayor, who praised his works to the international press. For the occasion, a bronze cryptogram of 1m80 and a 2-meter One Dollar were exhibited during the event. - 50th anniversary of the Deauville American Film Festival, for which the artist created 18 bronze trophies as well as a 2-meter sculpture that will be installed at the CID. The artists interviewed about the artist and who received the trophy include: Michael Douglas, Daisy Ridley, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Mikey Madison... 2023: - Aspen Saint Regis: Installation of the 2-meter One Dollar in front of the St Regis. Special performance by his wife, opera singer Cherise Lagasse, who performed pieces from her repertoire. 2015: - Second collaboration with Maserati with the creation of a monumental installation titled “A Piece of Heaven on Earth.” This work comprises a Maserati covered with a white plastic film and a sculpture of Jesus Christ. Around the car, several dollar-bill sculptures are placed on the ground, symbolizing the repayment of humanity’s greatest debt. - Art Paris - Galerie Michel Vidal 2014: - Maserati presents in world premiere the Maserati Ghibli reimagined by artist Karl Lagasse on the occasion of the brand’s 100th anniversary. - Solo exhibition at the Italian Embassy in Paris.
