Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) - Collected Editions II

Title: Joseph Beuys - Hand-signed Invitation Card "Collected Editions II / Enterprise" - 1974 Description: An original invitation card hand-signed by the German conceptual artist Joseph Beuys (1921–1986). This document was issued on the occasion of the exhibition "Collected Editions II," held at the John Gibson Gallery in New York from January 5 to 24, 1974. The show featured new additions to Beuys’ largest-ever collection of multiples, prints, posters, books, and catalogs at the time. The front features a black-and-white photograph of the artist’s family watching the television series Star Trek. Over the composition are the words "BEUYS" and the iconic cross, rendered with a metallic gold ink embossed finish, a motif deeply linked to alchemical symbolism and healing within the artist’s theory of social sculpture. The piece is hand-signed by Joseph Beuys on the left margin with a red felt-tip marker, bold and precise. The reverse side includes all typographic information for the gallery (392 West Broadway, New York). It is completely clean and unmailed, free of stamps, postmarks, or handwritten notations, confirming its excellent archival condition. Januar 1974 in der John Gibson Gallery in New York stattfand.
