Toutes les enchères / Autres / Joop van Leeuwen (1962) - Moeder met kinderen op het strand

Beautiful seascape by Joop van Leeuwen The work is beautifully handcrafted and framed. There was, in 2025, a retrospective exhibition of Joop van Leeuwen at Galerie Gabriels on Noordeinde in The Hague. A book of his work was also published. Already in early childhood his drawings and oil pastels stood out in a positive way. In his school years he virtually daily visited the well-known The Hague museums (the Mauritshuis and the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag). He painted and drew copies of famous masters there. Joop studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (1981-1984). During his academy years Van Leeuwen already painted and exhibited independently. Well-known art dealers in The Hague regularly bought his works during these years. It was also during this period that Van Leeuwen made his first impressionistic beach scenes. His beach scenes, winter landscapes and cityscapes were in high demand. Renowned galleries sold his works. He acted as an advisor to prominent collectors and his works were auctioned by Christie’s and Sotheby’s. He received a commission from the Rockart museum, based in Hoek van Holland, to paint pictures of a number of well-known national artists. This museum presents the history of Dutch pop music from around 1950 to the present. For this, Joop van Leeuwen creates distinctive portraits of about a dozen well-known pop stars. These include, among others, Anouk, Andy Tielman, Herman Brood, Boudewijn de Groot and André Hazes et al. To this day, Joop van Leeuwen’s beach scenes remain very popular. The painting is carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
