After-Dinner for Two reflects on intimacy and the human imprint through everyday objects. This diptych captures the moment after an encounter, showing empty dishes, half-finished glasses, and unadorned napkins on the table. Through a rigorous play of light and color — pairing cool and warm tones — the composition transforms a common moment into an almost liturgical scene. Thus, the two-part format reinforces the dialogue between the absent diners and rescues the beauty of fragments of daily life that make up our collective memory. —— Artistic Proposal My work sits at the border between contemporary figuration and a subtle impressionist intention. Far from the meticulous detail of hyperrealism, I allow the brushstroke and the impasto of oil to remain visible, granting the absolute protagonism to matter, atmosphere, and light. Through the series Domestic Corners and projects like the diptych After-Dinner for Two, I explore the poetry of everyday objects and inhabited spaces. Under the premise of rescuing the silent beauty of the ordinary, I transform common scenes into pieces charged with mystery, stillness, and memory. The everyday elements are stripped of their purely utilitarian function to become witnesses to human presence and absence. Biography Jesús López (Valencia, 1982) develops his work in Madrid. His relationship with oil painting began at an early age, taking painting classes between the ages of 8 and 10. After 30 years away from the visual arts, he reconnects with his vocation through watercolor, a technique that reshapes his understanding of artistic creation by teaching him the value of synthesis and the play of water on paper. This experience marks the impulse to return definitively to oil painting, influenced by the impact that Impressionism has always had on his outlook. However, it is the figure of Joaquín Sorolla that definitively marks his path and becomes his greatest source of inspiration. Subsequently, he perfects his technique in the workshop Aguaespejo, alongside the Jaén-born artist Francisco Salas Quesada.
