Jean-Claude Barthel - Containers

Oil on canvas, professional keyed stretcher frame, 40 x 40, unframed. Jean-Claude Barthel is a self-taught French abstract artist known for his vibrant, elemental paintings inspired by the forces of nature: water, air, earth, and fire. Trained as an industrial draftsman, he devoted himself entirely to painting in the late 1970s after settling in Auvergne. Barthel’s works, often in oil or acrylic, feature rich textures, layered glazes, and bold gestures that convey energy and emotion. His art seeks to evoke sensations—light, movement, heat—through color and composition. Widely exhibited in France and across Europe, notably in Paris, Vichy, and Vienna, his paintings are held in private collections and represented by several galleries such as ETRU and SIMPARGA. Barthel’s oeuvre offers a sensory journey to the heart of nature. www.artmajeur.com/jeanclaudebarthel Light, impressions on canvases with textured brushwork fully express his personality as an artist. He loves water, air, earth, and fire. He builds a world where he can escape, the moment a painting is completed. At the end of the journey, the meeting of creator and spectator in the same desire, the same quest.
