Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the most respected and innovative Swiss luxury watchmakers in the world, often referred to as “The Watchmaker of Watchmakers.” It’s known for its craftsmanship, technical inventions, and iconic designs. Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland — a region famed for fine watchmaking. LeCoultre was an inventor and pioneer: he created the Millionomètre in 1844, the first instrument capable of measuring micrometers — a huge step toward precision manufacturing. Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre SA is Swiss luxury watch manufacturer founded by Antoine LeCoultre in 1833, based in Le Sentier, Switzerland. It came out during the peak of their partnership in the late 2000s and has become something of a cult collector piece. What makes it special: 1. The “buttonless” chronograph The Amvox2 is famous for its vertical-trigger chronograph system. Instead of traditional pushers: - Press the top of the sapphire crystal to start/stop the chronograph - Press the bottom of the crystal to reset it - A side lock prevents accidental activation This was genuinely innovative at the time and remains unusual even today. The mechanism uses a complex lever and ball-bearing system integrated into the case and movement. 2.
