Toutes les enchères / Livres, Cartographie & Manuscrits / Italy - Bergamasque

The vivid period color printing clearly distinguishes the political factions of the time: • In Yellow/Orange: The territories of the Duchy of Milan under the rule of the King of Spain (the Milanese, the Lodesan, the Cremonese). • In Green/Aquamarine: The Terraferma domains of the Most Serene Republic of Venice (the Bergamasque, the Brescians, and the strategically enclave of the Cremasco). The map is rich in topographic and anthropic details, listing fortified cities, small towns, main routes of communication, and a dense hydrographic network essential for the military strategies of the era. At the top, along the entire upper margin, is the complete title of the work in French. This map has high historical value. It was printed in Paris by Nicolas de Fer specifically to illustrate the movements and encampments of the imperial and allied troops at the beginning of the 18th century. It is an indispensable piece for collectors of local Lombard cartography and military history. Excellent condition. The sheet shows the natural and uniform patination of the time. The colors are vivid and well preserved. No invasive restoration or significant tear on the body of the map.
