Italy 1961/1961 - President Gronchi's trip to South America – 170 L

Lot related to the famous Italian issue from 1961 dedicated to the visit of President of the Republic Giovanni Gronchi to South America. The lot comprises four stamps: * 170 lire – Argentina, blue; * 185 lire – Uruguay, green, with lower sheet margin; * 205 lire – Peru, pink/lilac color, known as the “Gronchi Pink”; * 205 lire – Peru, gray color, replacement issue prepared after the withdrawal of the pink value. All specimens are uncancelled. The gum is present on the reverse; as clearly documented by the photographs, it shows tones and alterations compatible with the stamps’ age. The 205 lire pink is the famous 1961 value withdrawn before the presidential trip due to the erroneous representation of Peru’s borders and subsequently replaced by the 205 lire gray. The lot is not accompanied by an expert certificate. The authenticity and the condition of the gum on the 205 pink are therefore not guaranteed by certification and the specimen is offered exactly in the state visible in the photographs. The photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the front and back of all the stamps. Overall condition as shown in the images.
