Italian school (XVIII) - Cuore sacro di Gesù

18th-Century School – Sacred Heart of Jesus / Holy Face – Oil on rigid support (cardboard/wood) Intense devotional painting dating to the 18th century, depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a vibrant half-figure representation within an oval frame. The Christ is portrayed with a sweet, magnetic gaze, framed by flowing chestnut hair and a luminous nimbus. With a gesture of deep mercy, he holds between his hands the Sacred Heart surmounted by the cross, from which intense beams of golden light radiate, piercing the darkness of the background. The composition is enriched by the traditional drapery of the red robe and the blue mantle. The work features a distinctive oval structure on a rigid paper support attached to wooden reinforcements on the back, typical of popular devotional or workshop production of the eighteenth century. A testimony of sacred art of great suggestiveness, ideal for collectors of religious antiquities and connoisseurs of period painting.
