Intense Deep Azure Sodalite Rich Blue Polished Slab...

Polished Sodalite sample with Calcite veining, mounted on a display base — This specimen consists of a portion of metamorphic or igneous intrusive rock, predominantly composed of the mineral Sodalite. Sodalite, a mineral belonging to the feldspathoid group, is presented here with its characteristic deep blue-violet coloration, which can vary from intense azure to ultramarine blue. Its genesis is typically associated with quartz-free alkaline igneous rocks, such as nephelinic syenites, or in contact metamorphic skarns. Visual analysis of the piece reveals a Sodalite matrix with a vibrant, uniform blue tone, crossed by a dense network of irregular white Calcite veins (often lighter). These Calcite inclusions create a notable color contrast and add depth and dynamism to the polished surface. The polishing has enhanced the glassy luster of Sodalite, highlighting the cryptocrystalline texture and internal structures of the mineral. The specimen is cut and polished in a freeform shape, respecting the natural conformation of the original block. The provenance of this lot is Brazil, known for its high-quality Sodalite deposits. Although the exact specific locality is not provided, Brazil, particularly the state of Bahia, is a primary source of intensely colored Sodalite, often associated with other mineral species such as Albite or Calcite, as evidenced by the veins present in this sample. The geological formation is linked to magmatic or metamorphic processes that led to the crystallization of this alkaline mineral. Aesthetically, the piece stands out for the harmonious balance between the deep blue of Sodalite and the contrasting white of the inclusions. The freeform cut emphasizes its organic appearance, making it a natural sculptural piece. The quality of the polish is excellent, giving the surface a smooth, reflective finish that enhances the colors' vividness and the complexity of the veins. The generous dimensions make it a focal point with significant visual impact. The condition of the specimen is excellent, free of major fractures or surface alterations. It is securely mounted on a purpose-built wooden base, ensuring stability and allowing elegant and valorizing presentation. The black base provides a neutral contrast that enhances the mineral’s colors, making it ready for immediate display in a collection or as a high-value decorative element. This polished Sodalite specimen represents a fine addition to any collection. The combination of substantial size, intense coloration, and well-defined vein patterns makes it a distinctive piece. Specimens of Sodalite of such aesthetic quality and polish are sought after by both mineralogists and mineral-art collectors, offering a magnificent example of the natural beauty of Brazilian minerals. Its presence is capable of enriching any display with a touch of geological elegance.
