Immaculate Conception, Follower of Murillo, Sevillian School, 17th Century

Descriptio Oil on panel. Dimensions: 44 x 32 cm. The Immaculate Conception appears suspended on clouds and surrounded by cherub heads, her hands joined in prayer and enveloped in the traditional white and blue mantles. The composition develops a luminous and celestial atmosphere, accentuated by soft chromatic gradations and delicate vaporous effects. The grace of the features, the expressive sweetness, and the devotional sense recall the models disseminated by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and his circle. The fluid brushstrokes and the idealized treatment of the figure demonstrate the enduring influence of the Sevillian Baroque aesthetic, making the work a remarkable example of religious painting inspired by Murillo.
