Iittala - Figurine - free-blown and shaped glass

Finnish design legend Oiva Toikka launched Iittala’s iconic collection of glass birds in 1972. Inspired by nature and driven by his passion for the art of blown glass, Toikka created each bird with its own distinctive character and individuality. Every piece is unique, down to the finest detail, making each bird a truly one-of-a-kind work of art. Handcrafted and mouth-blown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the Birds by Toikka collection represents a rich fusion of traditional Finnish glassmaking craftsmanship and Toikka’s longstanding artistic collaboration with a team of highly skilled master glassmakers. Birds by Toikka Bullfinch is a striking and charming combination of colour, form and pattern. With its vivid red, white and grey body, elegant proportions and delightfully endearing expression, the Bullfinch has a soft, almost tactile visual quality that gives the piece a warm and distinctive personality. This particularly beautiful Bullfinch was personally crafted by Oiva Toikka in 2000. The bird also bears the artist’s hand-engraved signature on its belly, providing an important mark of authenticity and adding further significance to its collectible value. The engraved signature serves not only as a personal artistic mark, but also as a meaningful connection to Toikka himself and to the history of this exceptional piece. Every Birds by Toikka creation is unique; this 2000 Bullfinch, personally crafted by Oiva Toikka and bearing his hand-engraved signature, is an especially charming and collectible example of his celebrated glass art.
