Icon - Virgin in Prayer - Wood - 44 x 42 cm

It's an icon that, even though it is a piece from the second half of the 20th century, maintains with notable fidelity the sacred aesthetic of the Renaissance: frontal solemnity, symbolic colors and that gold that acts almost like an atmosphere rather than a mere decorative background. The printed image, carefully adapted to the wood, reproduces the figure of the Virgin with that characteristic stylization: elongated face, deep gaze, restrained gestures that convey serenity and protection. The gold that envelops the composition is not flat; it has an artisanal texture that recalls the burnished plates of traditional icons. That warm, slightly irregular shine adds depth and a devotional air that connects the piece with the long tradition of Eastern iconography. The frame, also handcrafted, reinforces this reading: sober lines, restrained ornamentation and a finish that seeks to accompany the image without competing with it. Although the technique is modern — printing on gold wood — the result preserves the symbolic presence of ancient icons: a piece designed to preside over a private corner, to accompany prayer or simply to provide a spiritual and classic accent to the space.
