Humpless Longhorn Kuri Skull - Skull - Bos taurus...

Rare skull of a Kuri cattle (Kuri cattle), Bos taurus longifrons Dimensions: 110cm x 90cm x 40cm Age: approx. 1900 Details: The skull has damage around the edges. (see photos) This in no way detracts from the special beauty of the piece. This is a wild-type specimen and is one of a kind. The Kuri cattle probably originated in Egypt and descends from the ordinary Watusi cattle. They are believed to have migrated via the Sahara in a south-western direction to Lake Chad. Where it settled several thousand years ago and remains endemic to this day. Over thousands of years these one-hoofed animals have become dependent on Lake Chad. As the size of the lake has declined dramatically, the habitat of the Kuri cattle is seriously threatened. They are kept as livestock by the Kuri people. The enormous horns, when moving and foraging in the water, serve as two huge buoys and literally keep the head above water. An evolutionary tour de force. Non Cites PLEASE NOTE: - Delivery in the Netherlands and Belgium is free, in good agreement with the seller. - Other European countries, in good agreement with the seller. The costs of these are to be borne by the buyer. - Given the size of the piece, the costs of packing and shipping outside Europe will be high. These costs are at the buyer’s expense. This is subject to mutual agreement.
