HONG KONG (SAR). Mercantile Bank Limited. 100 Dollars, 28.7.1964. P-244a. KNB20a. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45. A moderately circulated example of this popular 'Map' 100 Dollars with good preservation of paper quality and inks. A scarce and highly sought-after first date of issue in much better grade than typically seen for this type. This is one of those classic type notes that belongs in every serious Hong Kong collection, but most type collectors will settle for one of the (still very scarce) later dates. Your cataloger has attempted to put together a rough estimate of the quantities issued of the various dates of this type in the past, and our best guess is that just 100,000 notes of the first date were issued into circulation, a minuscule quantity compared to, for example, the $100 from HSBC issued around the same time. An important offering for the date specialist and one to be considered.

Estimation:€669.57
