Hollandse kraag kandelaar - Candleholder - Brass - Heemskerk Collar Candlestick

Antique Heemskerk collar candlestick – brass – 19th century A fine and characterful 19th-century Heemskerk collar candlestick, made of brass and featuring the characteristic wide round collar beneath the candle holder. This type of candlestick harks back to the traditional Dutch model known since the 17th century. The wide collar originally had not only a decorative function but also caught dripping candle wax. In the 19th century, such models were reproduced frequently, often in a historicising style. This candlestick has a beautifully profiled stem with multiple baluster-like swellings, a substantial rounded base and a tall cylindrical candle holder with subtle horizontal rings. The wide brass collar gives the whole its recognizable and stately silhouette. The warm yellow-gold color of the brass and the light natural patina contribute to a particularly atmospheric appearance. A decorative object that fits excellently within a classic, rural, country, or historic interior.
