Herzfeld - Skin Diver - No reserve price - Men - 1960-1969

Herzfeld Skin Diver – 17 Jewels – Rotating Bezel – Mechanical Movement – 1960-1969 A distinctive vintage Herzfeld Skin Diver wristwatch from the 1960s, featuring the bold, functional aesthetics associated with the early generation of recreational diving watches. The watch features a silver sunburst dial with striking green Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, matching green hour markers and contrasting red accents. The combination gives the dial an unusual and highly recognizable vintage appearance. A cream rotating timing bezel surrounds the dial, graduated from 0 to 60 minutes. The broad hands and highly visible hour markers reflect the functional design language of vintage skin-diver watches, which were created for improved readability and practical timing. The dial is signed Herzfeld and 17 Jewels. Technical Details Brand: Herzfeld Model: Skin Diver Type: Vintage diver-style wristwatch Case material: Chrome plated Case diameter: 36 mm, excluding crown Case back: Stainless steel back Glass: Mineral crystal Dial: Silver sunburst dial with green Arabic numerals and red accents Bezel: Rotating 60-minute timing bezel Movement: Mechanical, manual winding Jewels: 17 jewels Functions: Hours, minutes Strap: Generic cream leather strap, approx. 19–20 cm Water resistance: Not tested for water Box: Generic box included Condition: Grade B Condition Report This Herzfeld Skin Diver is in Grade B condition, showing signs of age and use consistent with its vintage character. The chrome plated case presents scratches, marks and areas of plating wear, particularly around the lugs and case edges. The silver dial shows natural signs of ageing, including light spotting, marks and patina. The green numerals and indexes remain clearly visible, while the contrasting red accents retain much of their visual character. The rotating bezel shows significant age-related patina, discoloration and surface wear. These signs are consistent with the age of the watch and contribute to its authentic vintage appearance. The mineral crystal shows scratches and signs of normal use. The stainless steel case back presents scratches and surface marks from previous wear. Generic cream leather strap. The watch has not been tested for water resistance; therefore, water resistance is not guaranteed and the watch should not be considered suitable for diving or water use despite its original Skin Diver design. Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item. Story & Heritage The Skin Diver represents one of the most recognizable categories of recreational watches to emerge during the expansion of underwater sports in the 1950s and 1960s. Unlike heavier professional diving instruments, skin-diver watches were generally designed as relatively compact, lightweight timepieces for recreational swimming, snorkeling and skin diving. Their rotating timing bezels, highly legible dials and robust cases created a distinctive design language that has since become particularly appreciated by vintage-watch collectors. This Herzfeld captures that period beautifully. Its 36 mm case, cream timing bezel, green numerals and small red dial accents give it considerably more personality than the monochromatic styling found on many contemporary tool watches. Decades of natural ageing have further transformed the bezel and dial, giving this example the unmistakable character of an authentic vintage sports watch. A distinctive collectible piece for enthusiasts of early skin divers, mechanical sports watches and unusual mid-century watch design. Internal Reference Number - FLO-146
