Hans Picard (1950-) - Sculpture

Hans Picard – Holland on Ice - 1 (2000) A particularly three-dimensional artwork by Hans Picard, titled Holland on Ice - 1 and created in 2000. The work depicts a Dutch winter landscape with an iced water feature, reeds, and windmills on the horizon. In the foreground stand four ceramic figures in blue-and-white traditional dress, appearing to skate on a gray platform. The figures are spatially set in front of the painted landscape, creating a playful and theatrical diorama. The scene is framed by a large, curved wooden frame with a distinctive red-and-black finish. On the front there is a brass plate with the title Holland on Ice - 1. The combination of painting, ceramic elements, and three-dimensional assemblage gives the work its quirky character. The piece brings a typical Dutch winter scene to life in an original way and makes for a striking artwork for an art collection or interior. The work is supplied with the original purchase receipt.
