Handgemaakt - Dollhouse Zitbank kist - 1900-1910 - Belgium

Miniature (possibly for a dollhouse) carved antique oak monk's bench in neogothic or Jacobean style. Equipped with detailed woodcarving with stylized leaves and on the sides a lattice pattern. The back of the bench slides along 2 very small nails (see photo with red circle) into place. Front and back of the armrest are decorated. The chest closes with a lid. Very finely finished, with every detail worked out. The bench measures H 25 x L 19 x D 10 cm. This is the kind of furniture that was produced as a master craftsman's model by cabinetmakers (a "maitrise" piece) or specifically as luxury dollhouse furniture. Rare. (see also my other listings of miniature furniture)
