Hand-carved skull from petrified wood – Unique sculpture from Africa- 2809.91 g

This extraordinary skull made of petrified wood fuses the power of a fossilized natural wonder with artisanal craftsmanship. Carved from millions of years old petrified wood, the sculpture impresses with deep black to charcoal nuances, fine natural grain, and the distinctive structures of fossilized wood. The expressive facial design gives the skull a striking and at the same time fascinating character. Petrified wood forms when organic wood is replaced over millions of years by mineral-rich solutions, while preserving its original wood structure. Each piece thus unites the history of an ancient tree with the durability of stone. The natural lines, color gradations, and inclusions make every sculpture a unique, unmistakable piece. Each skull is made from a solid piece of petrified wood from Africa and carefully hand-carved. Due to the natural characteristics of the material, the grain, color play, and fossil structures differ with every sculpture, making each exemplar a true one-of-a-kind piece. Whether as an extraordinary collectible, impressive decoration, eye-catching feature for living or work spaces, or as a special gift for lovers of fossil minerals and unique artworks—this hand-carved skull from petrified wood unites ancient Earth history, high-quality craftsmanship, and impressive natural aesthetics. Stone: Petrified Wood Weight: 2809.91 g Size: 160x100x75 mm Treatment: None Origin: Africa It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language. The disclaimer about the healing properties as previously given : It is believed that certain gemstones and minerals have beneficial health and spiritual properties.
