H. Wille & Co Amsterdam - Knife rest - Crystal - Art Deco knives leggers

Stunning antique set of crystal place card holders in original case – H. Wille & Co Amsterdam – Art Deco A particularly elegant and complete set of 12 antique Art Deco place card holders, executed in high-quality clear, richly faceted crystal. The holders are in a beautiful condition and are presented in their original, custom-made case. The inner side of the lid is lined with luxurious, deep cobalt blue silk/satin lining, featuring the original gold stamp of the renowned Amsterdam luxury goods and galanterie shop H. Wille & Co (Amsterdam). The place card holders have a distinctly geometric, architectural design characteristic of the interwar period (circa 1920–1930). Thanks to the deep facets (including fine diamond- and star-shaped patterns), light is beautifully captured from every angle, making the holders sparkle like jewels on a festively laid table. Place card holders were at the time an indispensable and refined element of formal etiquette, intended to protect the table linens from cutlery stains. Today they form a beautiful, functional eye-catcher during a chic dinner, Christmas, or New Year’s party.
