Beautiful and diverse collection of 22 silver-plated vintage collectible opals from the second half of the 20th century, consisting of three thematic series. A wonderful lot for the collector of nostalgic tableware. Key features of the lot: • Age / Estimated period: 1970s and 1980s (approx. 1970–1989) — Authentic vintage [Ml1LYY, aBKHOG]. • Material: High-quality silver-plated (Base 90) with a core of white metal/alpaca [Ml1LYY]. • Origin / Country of origin: Europe (Netherlands and Germany) [Ml1LYY, aBKHOG]. • Color: Silver-colored with an authentic, natural blue-purple oxidation patina (especially on the WNF spoons, see photos) [aBKHOG]. • Dimensions: The spoons have an average length of about 11.5 cm to 12.5 cm each. Contents of the collection (22 pieces): 1. 12x Douwe Egberts Luncheon Spoons (Netherlands): Complete set of all 12 months [Ml1LYY]. Made by the well-known silverware factory H. Hooijkaas from Schoonhoven [Ml1LYY]. The spoon bowls show splendid Old Dutch reliefs with the traditional historical month names [TeL3mc, Cixdzv]. 2. 7x BSF 'Romantique' Spoons (Germany): Elegant tea spoons from the Bremer Silberwarenfabrik from the 70s, beautifully decorated with historic sailing ships. Includes the two original cases with the red print "Ein Stück Romantik". 3. 3x WNF Animal Spoons (Netherlands): Vintage spoons in the original blue box, issued on behalf of the World Nature Fund [aBKHOG]. Featuring three-dimensional animal figures (including a pelican and a bird of prey) [aBKHOG]. Condition of the items: The spoons are in good, used vintage condition with normal signs of aging. The dark and colorful buildup (patina) on the silver coating is quite natural for this age and can, if desired, be simply polished to shine with silver polish.
