Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) (after) - "Lady with a Fan, 1917"

- Gustav Klimt (after), "Lady with a Fan, 1917", offset lithograph on matte textured paper (approx. 300gsm - refers to paper thickness/density). - Stamp on verso. - Embossed stamp. - Ready to frame. The pic in which the item appears framed is a simulated recreation for illustrative purposes only, the frame and other decorative elements shown in it are not included in the lot you are bidding on. - Condition: very good. Never framed, never exposed. - Size of each: 43 x 46 cm - Gustav Klimt’s “Lady with a Fan”, 1917 is one of the artist’s most refined late portraits, combining sensual elegance, decorative richness and an unmistakably modern sense of pattern and surface. The sitter is shown in a poised three-quarter view, her calm expression and exposed shoulders set against an exuberant background of flowers, birds and ornamental motifs inspired by East Asian art. Klimt dissolves the distinction between figure and decoration, allowing the patterned robe, floral forms and exotic birds to merge into a dense tapestry of colour in which gold, pink, green, blue, black and cream compete and harmonise at once. The composition reflects his lifelong fascination with beauty, fashion and ornament, while connecting naturally with Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, Kees van Dongen, Matisse, Bonnard and the Vienna Secession, and with the broader influence of Japonisme and Chinese decorative art on European modernism. This work has exceptional decorative appeal for admirers of Gustav Klimt, Vienna Secession, Art Nouveau, Japonisme, female portraiture, fashion imagery and richly patterned interiors. Its sophisticated combination of warm gold, soft pink, emerald and jade green, cobalt blue, black, cream and floral accents makes it especially suitable for an elegant living room, bedroom, dressing room, dining room, study, luxury apartment or refined eclectic interior. It can sit beautifully beside dark wood, walnut, velvet, brass, lacquer, marble, travertine, ceramics, Murano glass, antique furniture, vintage objects, Eames furniture, Gio Ponti references and sculptural designer lighting, creating a luxurious dialogue between art, fashion, nature and interior design. With its exotic birds, floral abundance and graceful sitter, “Lady with a Fan” is also a distinctive gift for lovers of Klimt, Art Nouveau, Asian-inspired design, fashion history, decorative arts and museum-inspired interiors. For those interested in Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka, Van Dongen, Matisse, Bonnard, Picasso, Lempicka, Hopper, Hockney, Warhol, Basquiat, Haring, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, Koons and Karl Lagasse, this image offers a compelling combination of beauty, colour, ornament and timeless modernist sophistication. Its sumptuous and highly recognisable identity fits perfectly with today’s trend for curated interiors, where fine art prints can live naturally beside vintage design, luxury objects, Cartier, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, champagne, rare collectibles, art and fashion books, Lego, Star Wars, Pokémon and other icons of style, creativity and collecting. A decorative, elegant and unmistakably Klimt composition, ideal for bringing colour, glamour, artistic sophistication and a refined Viennese atmosphere to any interior.
