Guido Antonio Mantovani (1916-1988) - Paesaggio pastorale autunnale con gregge

Splendid and imposing oil painting on canvas by the Italian master Guido Antonio Mantovani (1916-1988), a pupil of the famous Angelo Dall'Oca Bianca. The work, characterized by a monumental format of 80x150 cm (ideal as a salon masterpiece or above the sofa), depicts one of the most poetic and sought-after themes in the artist's repertoire: a evocative twilight autumn landscape, brought to life by the figure of a shepherd with his flock by the edge of a body of water. The application of color is rich and tactile, with a palette dominated by warm ochre tones, burnt earth, and decaying greens, typical of the Padua and Venetian post-Impressionist tradition. The subdued light and the mist in the background give the composition an extraordinary lyrical and contemplative atmosphere. The painting is presented in generally good condition, with the natural patina and slight period craquelure that attest to its authenticity. It is sold complete with its elegant contemporaneous silver frame, which beautifully enhances the tones of the work. A magnificent opportunity for 20th-century Italian art collectors or for those seeking a high-prestige, visually striking furnishing element.
