Ground globe on a stand, an original collectible piece produced around 1993 by Franklin Mint in collaboration with the Royal Geographical Society. Main features and authenticity guarantee: - Raised relief mapping: The globe features a true tactile three-dimensional relief at mountainous areas and mountain ranges. The mapping is not engraved plastic: it consists of genuine carved paper gores (paper gores) assembled and glued to the structure, following the traditional cartographic method. - Official seal: It bears the official emblem of the Royal Geographical Society as well as the historical founding year (1830) and other official seals. - Accurate geopolitical depiction of 1993: It shows key borders of the era, such as post-Soviet independent Russia, the recent separation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and the Central African territory designated as Zaïre. - Premium materials: sturdy floor-standing structure with a solid wood tripod and elegant decorative fittings with brass-like finishes. - Graduated meridian: a full metal ring surrounding the sphere, with degree numbering engraved directly into the metal (and not painted). Note: The paper sphere shows light moisture traces in places (visible in photos), but the paper is perfectly glued, not bubbled, and the entire cartography as well as the city names remain 100% perfectly visible. - The upper brass half-meridian has lost its original gilding on the surface due to use and time, while the lower face has retained all its shine. No corrosion. The mahogany pedestal and the brass ornaments of the lower part are in perfect condition, with no dents.
