The dynamic, rounded shapes of Streamline Modernism not only dominated architecture and automotive design in the 1930s and 1940s. We also find corresponding designs in the field of jewellery. They are known here under the term "retro jewelry". This ring is an example of this style. Its showpiece is dynamically curved and symmetrical in design. Typical of the time, the ring is made of warm yellow gold, only the diamond settings are made of white gold. This was also due to the wartime period, when platinum, which had previously been popular, was in short supply. Due to the scarcity of materials, stones taken from older pieces of jewellery were often used to set the diamonds: This also appears to be the case here. These are three old-cut diamonds that were cut in the late 19th century. The ring is very well preserved and still looks surprisingly modern today.
