Important oil painting on panel by the Venetian painter Giulio de Blaas, nicknamed Lulo (Venice 1888 - New York 1934) The 1918 work is of notable historical interest: it is part of the official production the artist created on commission from the Italian Ministry of the Navy to document the military operations of the Great War. The composition shows traditional boats in the foreground contrasting with the grey profile of the commissioned warships moored in the lagoon of Venice. The painting is part of a private collection. An excellent piece for lovers of lagoon painting from the early twentieth century and militaria (Regia Marina). The work presents in its original period state, "di prima patina", and has not undergone recent restorations. The painting surface is opaque and requires a light cleaning and a subsequent protective varnish to regain the full brightness of the original colors. There are slight and natural signs of aging along the outer edges of the panel, with small cracks that do not affect the central part of the main subject. Signed in the bottom left corner
