Interesting lot consisting of 13 original issues from 1955 of 'Sport Illustrato', a historic weekly color sports magazine edited by Emilio De Martino. A particularly rich collection dedicated to the great cycling season of 1955, with reports on the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, World Championships, on the era's major protagonists and numerous in-depth articles also about football, motor racing, motorcycle racing and boxing. Issues included in the lot: n. 20 – May 19, 1955 n. 21 – May 26, 1955 n. 25 – June 23, 1955 n. 26 – June 30, 1955 n. 27 – July 7, 1955 n. 28 – July 14, 1955 n. 29 – July 21, 1955 n. 30 – July 28, 1955 n. 31 – August 4, 1955 n. 32 – August 11, 1955 n. 33 – August 18, 1955 n. 34 – August 25, 1955 n. 40 – October 6, 1955 Among the main themes and personalities featured on the covers and in the articles: Giro d’Italia 1955, with special issues up to 48 pages; Tour de France 1955, followed step by step; Louison Bobet, the protagonist of his third consecutive Tour victory; Pasquale Fornara, Nino Astrua and Giancarlo Coletto; preparation and staging of the World Cycling Championships; special issues dedicated to the great international challenges. Particularly interesting is issue no. 40 from October 6, 1955, with a large color cover dedicated to Fausto Coppi, for the fourth time Italian Champion, and an internal feature on his previous victories. The lot also includes references to Enzo Ferrari, Italian football, Serie A, boxing and other major sporting events of the era. The magazines feature splendid photographic covers, some in color, and constitute a significant testament to Italian sport of the 1950s and the golden era of cycling. Conditions Original copies from about 70 years ago, in overall fair/good condition for their age. They show, to varying degrees, yellowing, creases, wear and small edge tears, abrasions and normal signs of use and the passage of time. The photographs accurately show the condition of each item and are an integral part of the description. Total lot: 13 original magazines, all from 1955. Ideal for collectors of Fausto Coppi, Louison Bobet, Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, historic cycling, automobile racing and Italian sports press of the era.
