Both eventually continued their studies at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. During this time, they also lived together. Gerbig studied there under R. Müller, Zwintscher, and Kuehl and received the Villa Romana Prize in 1913, as well as an annual scholarship from the City of Florence.
