Property of Charles Gay, Savannah, GA Description: George III Mantle Clock, James Stewart, London, Late 18th Century, the arched dial signed James Stewart, London, with two train movement and strike dial within a case with glazed front and rear doors, the front inset with gilt-metal spandrels, the top surmounted by four finials and a central figural group of putti (probably added later), the whole raised on gilt-metal ogee bracket feet; the back of the works with etched date Nov. 10, 1790.Measurements: Height: 22 3/4 in. x Width: 12 1/8 in. x Depth: 7 1/2 in. Condition: Overall good condition, small losses to fretwork sides, patch to veneer on upper right arch of door and upper left corner of door, losses to putti's arms on central finial which is probably a later addition, back door with replacements to veneer and age cracks Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections, or the conditions of aging.
