Georg Rueter (1875-1966) - Een stilleven met gele peren...

Georg Rueter (1875-1966) - Een stilleven met gele peren...

A beautiful still life of a white Delft lid jar with three yellow pears, a white Delftware hinged-lid jar and a copper pot on a wooden table with a light-blue tablecloth. The size of the canvas is 40x50 cm and the outer dimensions of the frame are 62.5x72.5 cm. In the upper right corner the painting is signed and dated with "Georg Rueter '66". The painting is in excellent condition. This means it has not been restored, not retouched, and is free of surface dirt. Additionally, a new varnish layer has recently been applied, which durably preserves the painting for the future. The precious artisanal classical frame, with a corn-ear motif along the outer edge, is in excellent condition. The frame is undamaged and unrestored and is from the top brand KWH. The Dutch artist Wilhelm Christian Georg Rueter was born on 8 March 1875 in Haarlem and died on 16 August 1966 in Amsterdam. He was the older brother of the well-known architect Theodor Wilhelm Rueter (1876-1963), who worked mainly in the village of Blaricum. Georg was, in addition to painter, a lithographer, applied artist, designer, lecturer at an academy, glass painter, wood engraver (printmaker), etcher, and draftsman. He studied at the School of Drawing for Arts and Crafts (until 1891), the State Normal School for Drawing Teachers (1891-1894), and the State Academy of Fine Arts (1894-1896), all in Amsterdam. Georg was a pupil of: August Allebé (1838-1927), Carel Lodewijk Dake (1857-1918), Jan Derk Huibers (1829-1918), Rudolf Stang (1831-1927), Jan Visser (1856-1938) and Nicolaas van der Waay (1855-1936). He primarily painted: landscapes, still lifes, portraits, cityscapes, genre scenes, animal scenes, figure scenes, flower still lifes and self-portraits. Georg won several prizes and honors in his lifetime, including in 1923 the Royal Medal provided by Queen Wilhelmina and in 1963 the Silver Medal of Amsterdam. His daughter Gerarda Rueter married the well-known Dutch painter Willem Gerard Hofker (1902-1981). The painting is well packaged (including frame protection with foam rubber U-profiles) and sent by registered mail. It can also be picked up at our gallery in Lisse (South Holland, Netherlands).
