French table linen

I offer a lot of 12 superb damask linen table napkins. A very handsome monogram “NP” is embroidered in the center of each napkin. Neat finish: the napkins are delicately hand-hemmed, in keeping with the traditional know-how of former times. Patterns are clearly visible in the characteristic light of household linens from the early 20th century. The linen fabric, with its beautiful natural texture and slightly rustic feel, contrasts with the finesse and elegance of the embroidery, carried out with great delicacy. This combination of linen’s simplicity and the decoration’s refinement is characteristic of antique household linens. The natural shade of the linen, still lightly brightened by washing, also witnesses the occasional use of the napkins. I am offering them in their original state, as I found them in an old bourgeois house located in the Bordeaux region. They may therefore show some traces or stains related to time and to their former storage. These marks are part of the history and authenticity of these vintage pieces and should be taken into account by the buyer.
