French school (XVIII) - Grande ritratto di Gabrielle de Teste (Avignone)

Fascinating female portrait in the French School dating to the second half of the 18th century. The work depicts the nobility Gabrielle Cayaris de Teste (born between 1720 and 1730 and died in 1776), daughter of Joseph de Teste and Dame Marguerite Louise Lucrèce Honère. The painting historically documents her marriage, celebrated on May 22, 1767 with her cousin Antoine François Auguste. Executed in oil on canvas, the portrait features an accurate rendering of period details, such as the elaborate hairstyle and the elegant light-blue dress finished with fine lace. The ensemble is completed and enriched by a splendid ancient gilded frame, contemporaneous and finely carved. The back of the painting preserves its extraordinary historical integrity, presenting: • The original era genealogical label (with later dactylographic transcription). • The pochoir inscription "AVIGNON" and the family stamp "DE TESTE", which certify its prestigious noble provenance from the Comtat Venaissin. • The original 18th-century frame with fixed joints.
