Miniature with a female portrait in a gilded bronze frame – 18th/19th century Elegant miniature painting depicting a young aristocratic lady, executed on a rigid support, characterized by a refined painterly rendering and a subject in keeping with fully eighteenth-century taste. The female figure is shown in half-length, face turned toward the observer. The lady wears a wide hat adorned with feathers and ribbons, a light dress with soft folds, and a rose on her chest, elements that confer on the composition an evident gallant and worldly character. The delicate features, luminous complexion, and careful grooming of the hairstyle and clothing elements are typical of the European tradition of miniature portraiture, a genre particularly appreciated in aristocratic circles between the 18th and 19th centuries. The miniature is set within a refined oval frame with a metal surround, mounted on a panel covered in ochre-colored textile. The portrait features a thin inner frame decorated with dotted and beaded motifs that subtly emphasize its oval shape. Of particular interest is the large outer frame in bronze, with notable ornamental elaboration. The structure is entirely characterized by a rich repertoire of scrolls, swirls, acanthus leaves, phytomorphic motifs and opposing curls, culminating at the top with a central vegetal composition in the form of a pediment.
