French School of the 19th Century – The Sewing Lesson – Mother and Daughter Charming genre scene depicting a mother introducing a young girl to sewing work. In the warm intimacy of a room with a fireplace, the two figures are gathered around thread and fabric, in a moment of complicity and transmission. The softness of their expressions, the richness of the fabrics, and the harmony of warm tones confer on this composition a particularly delicate charm, characteristic of everyday life scenes appreciated in the 19th century. A beautiful antique work, decorative and full of sensitivity. Oil on canvas, exceptional quality: 67x52cm. The work is in very good condition, oil on canvas re-stretched, some signs of wear/cracking to be noted nonetheless. Certificate of authenticity will be issued to the buyer.
