Toutes les enchères / Mobilier, Design & Miroirs / Fratelli Montina - Silvio Coppola

Silvio Coppola for Fratelli Montina — Dining set with hexagonal table and six matching chairs — Italy, 1970s An ensemble with a strong architectural presence, in which the geometry of the table and the enveloping shapes of the six chairs compose a coherent and recognizable project of Italian design from the seventies. Designed by Silvio Coppola for Fratelli Montina, the set pairs the material presence of ash with the warm tones of camel-colored leather. The table features a hexagonal top with a characteristic triangular configuration with truncated vertices, supported by a sculptural base. In the center, a removable element hides a compartment with a metal tray, a distinctive detail that enriches the functionality and the character of the project. The six coordinated chairs reproduce the table’s language through solid wood frames, joined profiles and leather-upholstered backrests. The balance between constructive solidity and the softness of the lines gives the set a substantial presence, suitable for a dining room as well as for a professional office or a representative environment. Three of the six chairs retain the original Fratelli Montina label, a feature that contributes to documenting the ensemble. The table and coordinated chairs are documented in the Silvio Coppola Archive within the project developed in 1972 and put into production in 1973. These dates refer to the history of the project; the present ensemble is offered as a production from the 1970s. The availability of the table together with six coordinating chairs makes this lot particularly interesting for collectors, architects, and interior designers seeking a complete ensemble capable of defining a space through materials, proportions, and design identity.
