Toutes les enchères / Autres / Francois Franc (1926-1989) - Dordrecht en Hiver, Hollande
Magnificent oil on canvas by the French post-impressionist painter François FRANC (1926-1989), depicting a wintry, misty view of Dordrecht in the Netherlands, entitled: "Dordrecht in Winter, Holland", sold with its superb original gilded wooden frame. About the work: This painting captures with great poetry the timeless atmosphere of Dutch ports in winter. In the foreground, the dark, bare lines of a large tree structure the composition. In the background, emerging from subtle mist, one can glimpse the emblematic silhouette of Dordrecht's famous Grote Kerk (the Great Church). The artist here demonstrates his favorite technique: a rich, textured handling applied with brush and knife, creating exceptional light vibrations on the surface of the canvas. The refined color palette, ranging between pearl grays, winter whites, and earth tones, perfectly enhances the Northern light. The iconic stylized signature of the artist with tall letters “FRANC” is visible at the bottom left. History & Provenance: An ideal provenance for collectors. The work is sold with its original certificate of authenticity dated December 10, 1983, issued by Galerie d'Art André Théry (Boulogne-sur-Mer), a historic gallery renowned for its selection of talented modern artists. Condition: The canvas is in perfect condition. The pictorial layer is intact, with no cracking, dents, or restorations anticipated. Tension on its original frame is excellent. Frame: The painting is presented in its magnificent and large original gilded wooden frame, also in excellent condition, ready to be displayed in your home. A rare opportunity to acquire a luminous and serene work, perfectly documented, by this esteemed painter who studied with Fernand Léger. The work will be packed with extreme care in a reinforced package and shipped with insurance and tracking number. Decor tip: Thanks to its soft tones and the superb patina of its large gilded frame, this timeless piece will integrate wonderfully into either a classical interior (Haussmannian style, stately home) to add a touch of elegance, or into a contemporary or minimalist interior to create a warm contrast and a moody atmosphere inspired by the spirit of Flanders. The 7th photo will help you imagine it in a contemporary/Haussmannian interior. Detailed description: - Artist: François FRANC (1926 - 1989).
