Francisco De Goya (1746-1828) - Contra el Bien General- Disaster of the War

Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) (after) Paper: ca. 29,50 x 30,50 cm Good condition Frame not included Reference: Delteil 120-199; Harris 119-200 Francisco de Goya’s raw, unflinching depiction of human suffering and societal critique in his print series, such as The Disasters of War for modern and contemporary political art, deeply influencing revolutionary artists across eras. This profound legacy is directly mirrored in Pablo Picasso’s monumental masterpiece Guernica, which channels Goya's dramatic intensity to protest violence, while Salvador Dalí openly paid homage to the master by reimagining Goya’s Caprichos through a surrealist, psychoanalytic lens. Decades later, this same spirit of subversion and sharp social commentary echoes in the provocative street art of Banksy, who, much like Goya, uses stark visual irony and accessible imagery to challenge institutional authority, expose the horrors of conflict, and force viewers to confront the darker realities of the human condition.
