Francesco Dezio - The librarian

A tight close-up: a pale hand, with slender fingers and cold nails, rests on a book with a bright red cover and opens its pages into a V-shaped gesture, suspended between care and desire. The red of the binding burns against the dark brown background, with touches of turquoise. On the right, a light element with a red dot breaks the naturalistic reading and introduces a note of narrative incongruity. The close-up transforms a quotidian gesture into a scene charged with tension, with a vague erotic allusion that remains on the level of implication. Painter, writer and editorial illustrator, he operates in the disrupt realism realm: a realist-rooted figuration permeated by irony, narrative incongruity and dramatic Baroque-inspired lighting. His painting blends meticulous detail with a deliberately visible brushstroke, with echoes of Caravaggio, Velázquez and Bouguereau, but also Magritte and Dalí in its dreamlike, uncanny aspect. As a narrator, he has published with Feltrinelli, TerraRossa and Laterza. Among his novels are Nicola Rubino is Entering the Factory (Feltrinelli 2004; TerraRossa 2017), La gente per bene (Terrarossa 2018), La meccanica del divano (Ensemble 2021). He illustrates covers for TerraRossa Edizioni and Revolver Edizioni. Trained in visual design with Riccardo Falcinelli, he brings a strong sense of composition and framing to painting. https://bari.repubblica.it/cronaca/2023/05/10/news/mostra_scrittore_francesco_dezio-399555211/ https://www.treccani.it/magazine/chiasmo/extra/SSU_Dezi_Conversazione.html @francescodezioart
