Fran Gonzalez (1959) - Nuages Verts Sous un Ciel D'Or (XXL)

Title: Green Clouds Under a Golden Sky (XXL) Theme: "Green Clouds Under a Golden Sky" (XXL) belongs to the artistic line started more than 40 years ago by the sculptor and gilder Fran González (Contemporary Gilding). "Green Clouds Under a Golden Sky" is a large-scale work, with elegance and luminosity. Its rich textures, strong presence and Expressive aesthetics are a homage to early 20th-century contemporary painters and to the world of Oriental Luxury. This work is conceived to fill any interior space with magic and warmth. Fran González, an artist specializing in the use of gold leaf as a contemporary artistic medium, focuses his work on the fusion of traditional crafts with experimentation and the creation of novel exclusive techniques. His reinterpretation of gilding and the use of non-conventional materials as an artistic language differentiate him within the Contemporary Art panorama. In Fran González’s work, gold leaf and other metals (bronze, aluminum, silver, etc.) are used as an expressive and symbolic medium, beyond a merely decorative value. The work is delivered accompanied by a certificate guaranteeing its authenticity, authorship and provenance. WARNINGS: to facilitate transport and reduce shipping costs, the work is delivered unstretched and unframed, rolled onto itself and with a double protective wrap. It is also noted that the proportions and colors appearing in some photomontages (mockups) may not correspond exactly to reality and are offered only as a reference for the work’s presence in a contemporary interior context. Technique: Acrylic and Gilding on synthetic canvas. Application of multiple layers of imitation gold leaf with acid-made patinas. About gilding techniques: The traditional gilding technique consists of applying very thin sheets of metal (gold, silver, imitation gold (i.e., bronze), aluminum, copper, etc.) onto any artistic surface (wood, metal, ceramics, textiles, etc.). Contemporary Gilding: Contemporary gilding techniques are unique and exclusive to Fran González and originate from the experimental philosophy of twentieth-century contemporary art, developed over more than 40 years of professional career, and giving the works qualities that radiate a magical light that permeates the space where they are exhibited. Shipping: packaged rolled and protected Dimensions: 152 cm x 90 cm. Fran González in the media: (Article about FG in the European Portal of Craftsmanship "Mad’in Europe") (Excerpts) "Fran(cisco) González is a contemporary ceramist, sculptor, painter and gilder whose practice unites traditional craftsmanship and innovative technique. With more than four decades of experience, his work reflects a continuous dialogue between material, process and inspiration. His main gilding method, used about 80% of the time, is water gilding, which he chooses for its lower toxicity and sustainability, especially when working indoors... Much of Francisco’s work is inspired by archaeological artifacts and ancient cultures. Whether the Greeks, the Etruscans, the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Chinese, the Japanese or the rich hybrid Arab culture in Spain, his fascination lies not only in the forms and techniques of the past but in the emotional resonance they carry. This emotional depth permeates his ceramics, gilded sculptures and even his evolving jewelry design work. This curiosity led him to prehistoric origins and, little by little, to experimenting with new materials and shapes..."
