The 39th Note Ever Graded by PCGS Currency Fr. 232. 1899 $1 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ. MM Block. An exceptional note in more ways than one that comes burdened with sublime color and bold detail, it takes hardly anything to reason that bidders have here for their consideration a veritable survivor that has rightly earned the grade assigned. Here the centermost vignette entitled The Eagle of the Capitol cuts an impressive presence that underscores the iconic nature of this design while sharp corners and knife-like margins lend further testament to the technical sophistication of this item. Yet these facets fail to account for the fact that this note was only the 39th note to be graded by PCGS Currency after its formation in 2005 as evidenced by certification number at left which reads "59000039" and betrays this item as an improbable survivor from the early days of TPG currency grading which fundamentally altered how paper money is collected and sold.
