Fossilized wood ball set – two fascinating natural stone...

Million-Year-Old Natural History in an Extraordinary Form: This impressive two-piece set of fossilized wood has been crafted into large, high-gloss polished spheres, beautifully preserving visible structures of the original wood. The two spheres could hardly be more colorfully varied. The left specimen delights with intense orange, copper, honey, and cream colors that flow in broad, vivid bands across the stone. The natural grain still clearly resembles grown wood fibers in places, giving the sphere a warm, almost fiery glow. The second sphere provides a striking counterpoint. Here, dark chocolate brown, black-brown, cream, and distinctly pink- to purple-toned patches dominate. Especially the strong elongated structures create a remarkable sense of depth, making this piece a true eye-catcher. The spherical shape allows the drawing to be viewed all around—every turn changes the image, revealing new grain patterns, color fields, and mineralized structures. The careful polishing further intensifies the colors and exquisitely showcases the preserved details of the fossilized wood. Together as a pair, they form an exciting interplay of warm fire-orange and deep earthy tones. At the same time, each sphere is a completely individual natural product, whose pattern does not occur exactly twice. Natural lines, mineral inclusions, small depressions, and fine irregularities belong to the original character of the fossilized wood and tell of its natural formation. An extraordinary sphere duo of fossilized wood—two unique pieces of earth history, artistically polished and with a color and grain variety that makes each sphere an unmistakable collectible. The stands are NOT included. Stone: fossilized wood Weight: 2504.94 g Size: - Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language. The disclaimer about the healing properties as previously given: It is believed that certain gemstones and minerals have beneficial health and spiritual properties. We und Catawiki cannot guarantee or be held liable for these suggested attributes which have no scientific evidence and cannot be considered a substitute for traditional medical treatment.
