The series "Le Arpie Gentili" (The Gentle Harpies) poetically and surrealistically revisits figures from Greek and Roman mythology. While ancient authors depicted the Harpies as formidable storm monsters, Fornasetti reimagines these creatures as beautiful colorfully dressed women-birds, elegantly captured at the heart of theatrical cage settings and spiderwebs. The lithographed overgloss illustrations are beautifully preserved with very vivid colors. Only a very light patina of natural wear is noted according to the pieces. • Small irregularities or localized enamel loss on certain pieces. These are marks of vintage firing supports (cooking supports of the era). They are authentic manufacturing characteristics from mid-20th-century artisanal Fornasetti porcelain and unequivocal proof of their age. • Box & Accessories: Sold with the base (display stand) in the original cardboard box from its Bonwit Teller era (the top lid is missing), showing a healthy patina of age, light wear, and a superficial paper loss under the base (price tag label ripped). Also included are 6 intermediate faux-leather protection discs for stacking.
