First-Class Vintage Ring With Sapphire & Diamonds in White Gold, Circa 1980

This precious ring is set with ten sparkling diamonds around an oval-cut sapphire. Both the diamonds and the sapphire are of very good quality. The diamonds shine white, i.e. without a warm hue. However, it is above all the intense colour of the sapphire that makes the ring stand out: The stone is clear, transparent and shows a perfect sky blue, not too dark and not too light. The motif of the coloured gemstone framed by diamonds is called "Entourage". This is an old jewellery motif that can be found in every generation, always adapted to the latest fashion. Here it is made of white gold, but unlike many similar rings, the stones are set close together so that hardly any air or metal is visible. This makes the ring appear compact and precious. It is also designed to be relatively flat over the finger. The ring was created around 1980, when entourage rings like this one were once again very fashionable. Back then, they were often given as engagement rings. Princess Diana, for example, chose just such an entourage ring with sapphire as her engagement ring. Today, it adorns Princess Kate's hand as a family heirloom. Perhaps this ring will also establish a new family tradition? The hand-crafted ring is in very good condition. An independent appraisal of the materials by the German Gemstone Appraisal Society Idar-Oberstein is enclosed with the ring.
