Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, is a variety of chalcedony characterized by its deep green color with notable red spots or speckles. These red spots are often caused by the presence of iron oxide, which gives the stone its name, as the color resembles blood. Bloodstone has a glossy surface and can range from slightly translucent to opaque in appearance. The provenance of bloodstone is found in various parts of the world. Important localities include India, Brazil, and the United States. This stone is often found in sedimentary deposits, where minerals have accumulated and been compressed over millions of years. Bloodstone is commonly used in jewelry, such as rings, pendants, and bracelets, but also in decorative objects and talismans. It is often associated with various spiritual and metaphysical properties, such as protection and healing. It is important not to confuse bloodstone with dragon blood stone, which is a different mineral combination and is usually characterized by a deep red color with green veins. Both stones have unique properties and applications, but they differ in composition and appearance. It will be sent by insured and registered mail.
