Figural mantel clock - Philippe H.Mourey - - Carrara marble - 1850-1900

Antique French figurative mantel clock – Napoleon III style An impressive, richly decorated French mantel clock in the elegant Napoleon III style, which is presumably dating from around 1870–1880. The clock captivates with its opulent, gold-colored design and the elaborately crafted figural adornments. In particular, the elegant female figure, the depiction of the Virgin Mary, and the religious scene with a cross stand out. The rich ornamentation gives this extraordinary piece a solemn, historical aura. Material and workmanship - Gold-colored, richly decorated metal cast case - White marble base - Figurative ornaments and sculptural embellishments - Classic dial with Roman numerals - Mechanical pendulum movement - Rear-side marking readable as “Ph. Mourey” Condition / restoration object The clock is a restoration-needing collectible piece that can also lend a special atmosphere to an interior as a decorative object. The movement currently does not run. There are damages, cracks, and traces of previous repairs visible on the case in several places. The gilding shows age-related wear and abrasion. This piece offers antique French clock enthusiasts, collectors, and restorers an interesting opportunity to have an extraordinary historical decorative object properly restored. Please examine all attached photos carefully before purchase to avoid later misunderstandings or possible conflicts. The condition of the item is documented by the photos and the description together. Sale in the depicted and described condition.
