Fend - No reserve price - Mechanical pencil

Unique set of two vintage pre-war Fend 4-color mechanical pencils – Early "Patent" release mechanism – From the same historic family collection! Magnificent set of two mechanical four-color pencils from the German quality manufacturer Fend (Pforzheim), dating from the 1930s/40s. These exemplars are made of sturdy metal and bear only the early inscription "Patent". The pens come from exactly the same estate as the luxurious silver I.G. Farben pen. While the silver pen served formal use, these two robust patent pencils were the high-quality workhorses for daily business use. Variation in design: This lot is extra special because it contains two different historical design variants of Fend: 1. The classic round model: A sleek and ergonomic design. 2. The more exclusive octagonal model: A luxurious, faceted version that was positioned higher on the market at the time and is highly sought after by collectors. Features & Condition: • Early Patent System: Equipped with Fend's early spring mechanism with automatic return. By pressing the small release button just beneath the head, the internal return mechanism is activated. Both pencils still contain functional leads in four colors. • Authentic condition: The pencils are in a beautiful, untouched state with normal, light signs of age and use on the metal. They have deliberately not been polished to preserve the original character and the lovely patina. • Mechanism: The early patent spring system is fully complete in both pens. Due to the aging of the original internal grease, the color leads do not retract as smoothly or promptly. Some leads require a little manual guidance or respond somewhat slower, which is entirely characteristic of this pre-war mechanism after about 80-90 years. A fantastic opportunity for collectors to acquire a unique duo of this early German ingenuity.
